It was now obvious given the current health emergency, but today came the final confirmation: The German government has extended until the end of August the ban on any major aggregation event, and this means that the gamescom 2020,scheduled for the last week of August, will not take place.

The same organizers of the fair confirmed it in a tweet,explaining that however the fair will still take place digitally: the opening event with Geoff Keighley launched last year, the gamescom Opening Night Live, will take place only in the form of an online event,so we can still expect a show with several interested announcements, and it is possible that further online initiatives will also be announced.
