Control: Next-gen upgrade is reserved for Ultimate Edition buyers only

Today 505 Games announced control's Ultimate Edition, re-edition of the popular Remedy Entertainment title coming later this year on the full console of all of DLC released so far; However, the announcement is also accompanied by an unwelcome controversy over the already announced "free update" of the game with optimizations for PS5 and Xbox Series X, which we find today not to be so free.

In the Ultimate Editionannouncement article, 505 Games explains that this update is reserved only for buyers of this edition of the game, while those who took the game at launch and may have purchased the Season Pass to have the two Expansions (the second of which, AWE, will arrive on August 27), will not get the upgrade on the new consoles unless they re-purchase the title in the Ultimate Edition.

It is undoubtedly a controversial and unpopular choice by 505 Games, which does not reward, indeed penalizes players who have so far made the success of the Title Remedy and that goes against the many publishers who have already announced free next-gen updates for their titles already released. But on social media, fans of the game are already making their complaints: will they be able to change their minds to the Italian-British publisher?
