Supermassive Games finally unveiled today the release date and new details of Directive 8020, the new narrative sci-fi horror adventure belonging to the anthology series The Dark Pictures. The title will be available starting May 12, both in physical and digital format.

The announcement is accompanied by a new trailer that allows us to take a look at the atmosphere full of paranoia and tension that will characterize the gaming experience. Set in the alien and hostile scenario of Tau Ceti f, the title will star pilot Brianna Young, played by actress Lashana Lynch. The narration, fully dubbed in Italian, will constantly test us, forcing us to make difficult decisions in situations where trust in our crew members will continually waver. In fact, we will have to manage critical moments, such as deciding whether to trust a companion who begs us behind a sealed door without knowing if he has remained human, or choosing between two identical versions of the same character to understand who the impostor is.

One of the most important innovations introduced by the developers is the system called Turning Points. This feature will allow us to have complete control over the narrative flow, allowing us to rewind the story at key decisions. Thanks to this tool, we will be able to customize the experience according to our style of play: completionists will be able to explore every possible crossroads and secret ending, while those who want to save their favorite character at all costs will be able to go back to avoid fatal mistakes. For those who prefer the classic and brutal approach of the series, the Survivor mode will be available, where each death will be permanent and we will not have any safety net available.

At launch, Directive 8020 will offer single-player mode and local co-op for up to five players. Supermassive Games has also already planned post-launch support, confirming that online multiplayer will be introduced later through a free update.

Finally, pre-orders of the game have already been opened on the Xbox store. Those who decide to buy the title early will be able to get a free upgrade to the Deluxe Edition, while stocks last for the physical version. This special edition includes several digital contents, including a themed costume pack, collectibles, a set of movie filters, as well as the official soundtrack and artbook.
