Rumor: one last expansion would be coming for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt
Rumors about this new additional content were initially spread by Polish leaker Borys Nieśpielak, according to whom the development would be entrusted to Fool's Theory, the studio that is already working on the remake of the first chapter of the series. Although a first announcement forecast for last December has not materialized, new confirmations seem to come directly from the company's top management. During a recent investor report, CD Projekt's CFO, Piotr Nielubowicz, hinted at the possibility that new content could see the light of day later this year, emphasizing how these releases would have a positive impact on the studio's financial results and the achievement of certain economic goals.
To reinforce this thesis, analyst Mateusz Chrzanowski has added, who predicts that the launch of this new expansion could take place in May 2026. This strategic move would serve to officially kick off the marketing campaign for The Witcher IV, refreshing the memory of players and keeping the attention on the brand high.
On the other hand, it would not be the first time that we have witnessed such an operation: in the past we have already seen titles receive unpublished content years later to connect directly to their sequels, acting as real narrative bridges.
After the post-launch support guaranteed by the massive expansions Hearts of Stone and Blood & Wine, and the update for next-gen consoles released in 2022, returning to the world of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt would represent an ideal opportunity to pass the wait. In this way, we will be able to return to explore the northern kingdoms and face new threats before the baton finally passes to the new chapter of the series, which will see Ciri as the protagonist.
We just have to wait for the next few months to see if these rumors will find official confirmation.
